Catalyst MENA Clean Energy Fund 2 (CMCF2)

CMCF2 will invest in majority and substantial minority stakes in greenfield and brownfield renewable energy and climate infrastructure projects and platforms in MENA which benefit from attractive, long-term offtake agreements.

Catalyst MENA Clean Energy Fund 1 (CMCF1)

In 2016, the Catalyst MENA Clean Energy Fund (CMCF) was launched with a focus on renewable infrastructure.

CMCF is the second fund launched by Catalyst. CMCF developed and invested in solar PV projects in the MENA region, with a primary focus on Jordan and Egypt. We also evaluate investments in SMEs serving clean energy, energy efficiency and water markets within the broader MENA region and internationally.

The fund, a USD57m 2016 vintage fund, has delivered top-quartile returns.

CMCF1 secured significant commitments from European and Asian development banks.
PORTFOLIO AND EXIT
CMCF has invested most its capital into high quality solar PV projects in Jordan and Egypt. These projects offer multiple incentives and support mechanisms such as tax breaks, sovereign guarantees, grid connection costs and USD indexation for up to 100% of the tariff.
Catalyst Private Equity Fund I Limited (CPEF1)

In late 2006, Catalyst Private Equity Fund I Limited (CPEF1) was launched with a focus on investing and growing early stage energy and water technology ventures in the MENA region. CPEF1 was the first of its kind to invest in commercial renewable energy businesses and projects.

In 2010, CPE's majority owned portfolio company, MEI Solar, developed and implemented the world's largest solar district heating project. This project included over 14 hours of energy (heat) storage.
